Welcome
This project draws focus to an extraordinary moment in Sicily’s rich history by making available to the public approximately 200 images taken of sites that date to the island’s Norman period (ca. 1060 – 1194). A team of students at Montclair State University has annotated the pictures, culled from a professor’s collection, in order to provide the contextual information necessary to a fuller understanding of the sites’ significance. The team hopes that the project will inspire visitors to learn more about Norman Sicily and its complex past. We hope you enjoy your visit.
